Dewey Coleman Whittemore July 7, 1924 ~ May 12, 2012

Dewey Coleman Whittemore, 87 of La Habra, California died May 12, 2012.

He was born July 7, 1924 in Crossroads, Arkansas to Garland and Dora Whittemore.

He served in the U.S Army in World War II, and received Bronze Star.

He was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church in Fayetteville. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; 2 brothers, Warren Whittemore and Waldon Whittemore and 3 sisters, Myrle Johnson, Lela Gaddis and Ruth Tooley.

Survivors include wife of 69 years, Marie Whittemore; son, Stan Whittemore and wife Linda of La Habra, California; daughter, Sue Pearson of Fayetteville grandchildren, Gary Pearson of Springdale, Kelly Pearson of Fayetteville, Karna Cowan and husband Shane of Elkins, Nathan Whittemore and wife Jodie and Joshua Whittemore and wife Heather both of La Habra, California; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 5 to 7 PM at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Crossroads Community Church, 32561 Highway 295 Hindsville, AR 72738. Burial will be at the Boatright Cemetery.

    Sue, Karna, Kelly and all-You are in my and Robert’s prayers and thoughts. Remember God’s got his arms wrapped around him and all who have gone before us are watching over us.

    Well Dad, it has been almost a year since you left us, into the arms of our dear Lord. I have missed our talks, going to church together, being able to tie your tie on Sunday, and hearing you sing. My world is really not the same without you. You were such a great example for me, I have found out that I could never live up to that example. But if there is anything I know it is that you are leading a heavenly choir to
