Irma Lucille Knight May 20, 1937 ~ May 27, 2012

Irma has left us to be with the Lord, on May 27, 2012.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  She resided in Elkins, Arkansas at the time of her death.  She is survived by her husband, Jack A. Knight, Jr. of the home, daughter, Carol McDermott of Bettendorf, Iowa, her granddaughter, Tisha K. Anderson who resided with her in Bettendorf, Iowa, and step-children, Jack Knight, III, Julie Weston, Joe Lee Knight, Janell Morton and Jason C. Knight, also her sisters, Loretta Clark, Virginia Dubreuil and Jessie Knight.  Also she had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cousins mostly in the Iowa and Illinois area.

She was preceded in death by her only son, Sterling C. Clark, Jr. of Davenport, Iowa, her former husband, Joseph Schaab of Bettendorf, Iowa, a step-son, Terry Schaab of LeClaire, Iowa, her father, Paul R. Current, her mother, Zelma Current Duncan Scott of Sun City, California, two sisters, Marilyn Willison of Taylor, Michigan, and Kathryn Risinger of Albuquerque, New Mexico; also her grandparents, Amy and George Hollopeter of Rock Island, Illinois and Fortis and Jessie Current of Maquoketa, Iowa; also many aunts and uncles.

Irma attended and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1954. She resided in Maquoketa, Baldwin, Grand Mound, and Bettendorf, Iowa areas and moved to Washington County, Arkansas area with her husband, Jack A. Knight, in 1994 where they retired.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf, Iowa.  She was a Girl Scout Leader, worked as a waitress, nurse’s aide, and several years of Great River Bend Transit, serving the elderly, handicapped and Head Start children, starting as a driver and ending with the position of transit coordinator which was her most loved job.

Irma’s greatest love of life was her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her hobbies were traveling, baseball games, sewing and crafts.

Visitation will be from 5~7 Thursday at the Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville,  Arkansas and funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in  Mount Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
