I am so sorry for your loss. Danny had shoed horses for me over the years. I put on a cattle drive each spring and Danny was always there each day to see if anyone needed him. Of course their was always someone that did. He was always happy to help them out. He will be missed by many of us in the community. I am praying for Gunner for the lord to give him strenght during this trying time.

Danny was a very humble and quiet person in church. He went to Astounding Grace Church in Hindsville Arkansas and it was always great to see Danny and his son Gunner sitting there in the pew they always sat in. He always hung his black hat on the edge of the pew and I will never forget his smile and his kind handshake. He was truly loved at Astounding Grace Church. He was quite a remarkable man to bring his son to church and teach him the word of God. He is truly missed at our church. May God wrap his loving arms around the family at this difficult time and Lord I pray for you to give these folks the love, comfort and peace as only you can do during such a difficult time. Sincerely Carla Gregory

So sorry for your loss. Danny has been shoeing horses for me for several years now, and has become a friend as well. He has always been nothing but nice and courteous to me. Always called me “Miss Shannon”, and went above and beyond to take care of my horses for me. I know there were several times when my horses weren’t working quite right, and Danny would make a special trip to come back by and adjust something just a little to see if it would help. Danny will be missed very, very much by all of us. He was the kind of man that you hope little ones will look up to and want to be like. I remember several times getting frustrated myself while trying to help him with one horse or another, and Danny was always the one to stay quiet and calm the horse…and me! He just had a special way about him that the horses trusted. He set an example that we should all hope to live by. Prayers to his family and little Gunner as well. I hope Gunner knows how much his daddy loved him. Danny always talked about him when Gunner wasn’t with him. The last time I saw him was the week before his vacation, and he was so excited. Hope they had a wonderful time. Condolences to all of Danny’s family and friends.

We are devastated by this tragedy. We have been blessed with Danny’s friendship and his wonderful ability with horses and humans. He had a remarkable peace about him that transcends normal humanity. Watching him with his son at church or around the community was a blessing in itself. We still can’t believe he is gone. His memory will live on with our family always. The world has lost such a blessing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and everyone who his life touched, the numbers are staggering. Time will eventually ease the pain of his loss and we will be left with only the wonderful memories but for now the pain is intense. God be with us all.

I’ve known Danny since he was born. During the summers we (his cousins) would go visit our grandparents there in Arkansas and also get to visit Danny and other cousins in the family. Danny had a love for horses even as a little guy. I can still visualize him petting his horse and smiling so happily. His eyes shone bright and his hair so blonde it was white. It wasn’t until Danny came back to Texas to attended my father’s funeral (his uncle) in his crisp Marine dress whites that I saw him as a grown man and very impressive looking at that. He made the whole family proud. As we were growing up and having families our visits came less often but I knew we had a cowboy in the family, 2 if we included Laura’s bronco busting. I would have enjoyed seeing him ride bulls. Danny was the only REAL cowboy I’ve ever known. So mild mannered, loving and happy, yet tough enough to be a bull rider and smooth enough to glide right over a dance floor. I’m grateful for the fun we’ve had and the family reunions that he and Gunner always attended. I’m grateful knowing he and Gunner have a church family and that in time cut short in our eyes, he sat such a strong and good example for his son. I pray that the pain and terrible emptiness of such a devastation , especially to those closest to him, will begin healing with fond memories and happy conversation of Danny.
Our hearts are so heavy and minds so boggled at the loss. I love ya’ll and will keep praying for God to give everyone the strength and knowledge to help Gunner cope with the loss of his best friend and Dad.

We were heartbroken to here the news about Danny. He and Gunner attended church with us at Asounding Grace in Hindsville, Ar. They walked quietly into church with a big smile. Danny always hung his black hat on the end of the pew. As they sit in church you could see the true genuine love he and Gunner had for each other. They were such a blessing to us. Our prayers go out to you Gunner and all of the family for God to comfort your hearts. We are going to miss Danny so much.

The first time Danny came to shoe our horses I liked him instantly. He was polite, quiet, very kind and an excellent horse shoer. The horses took to him too. His love for them, just like his love for his family and friends was honest and real. You could see it in his actions and his beautiful smile. I was thrilled to see him in Church with Gunner and when I realized how happy he was with Michelle I thought what a blessing for them. I would see him in town and so enjoyed our visits. He left way too soon but God’s plan is often beyond our understanding. I pray for peace and understanding that he is with our Lord, no more suffering or pain ever, forever happy. For Gunner to know that this separation is really only temporary and for all who knew and loved Danny to have only good memories. He will be missed by every life that he touched. Rest in peace sweet young man. My deepest Sympathy to all who will miss Danny.

I am so sorry to hear about Danny’s death. I knew him only by work relation as he took care of all our ferrier needs. He did an amazing job on taking care of our horses and we never had any issues at all. I could tell he loved his work (even the tough parts) and it showed in his work. I thought he was a great guy also and enjoyed talking with him when he showed up. He will be sorely missed. You have our heartfelt condolences and if we can help in any way please let us know.

Danny was my farrier and “go-to” person as far as my horses were concerned, for many years. His knowledge of horses, his honesty and integrity, and sense of humor made him just a pleasure to be around. I am sure going to miss him. My prayers and condolences to his family.

I have just returned home in (TX.) after attending Danny’s funeral. Such a sad time yet so beautiful. His family and friends together to show their love and respect to him. Laura you were great telling about the happy times you had with Danny. You and Don took charge in making sure everything was taken care of. Danny would have been so proud of you two. I have know Danny all his life and he was loved by all. As was said at the service, you only got as close to him as he would allow. He was shy most of the time. Yes Danny had a love for horses that was unique, he would protect them just as he would his children. Gunner, Kathy, Butch, Don and Laura the days and weeks ahead will be hard. Please know God is there to make the pain easier, just call on him daily.
Also I was so touched by the Military service.
    Love you all, Aunt Ann.
