I worked with Rick here at the University for 10 years, and he was one of the very first people I met when coming to the Physical Plant, and I instantly liked him from day one…..we became friends and talked every week about anything and everything, and I can say I will miss him dearly as will anyone and everyone who knew and loved him……His early passing is a tremendous loss for everyone. I am so very sorry for the tremendous loss to his family….Wayne Brashear, Fire Marshal, University of Arkansas

No words can begin to say how much Rick meant to so many of his co-workers and friends. I was lucky enough to work with Rick for 24 years and we shared many memorable conversations, so much laughter and I enjoyed his quick wit and his all around great disposition. He will be missed for many years to come and his kindness and friendship will never be forgotten. He loved his family so very much. My prayers are with you.

This may sound strange, but I was thinking about Woodland Junior High the other day, in doing so, Rickey Langham came to mind. That is where paths crossed in the 60s(approx. 64-66). I remember Rickey as a 13-15 yr. old boy. He was always smiling, happy & nice to everyone. Rickey was liked by all who knew him. I’ve been to Vietnam, Europe & all over the U.S.A., it would be hard to find more than a few people as good as Rickey. My condolences to the Langham family & friends, your loss is great. We will offer our prayers that this loss will lessen with time, & the good memories will remain.

I was shock to hear about Rick’s passing. He was one of the first friends I met when I moved to Fayetteville in 1963. Still remember riding the school bus out to Goshen, where Rick lived and see the farm. I haven’t seen Rick for a number of years (even though we graduated from Fayetteville High in 1970), but he was a very caring person and he will be dearly missed. I also ride a motorcycle with the CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association), knowing that a fellow brother was killed while riding, wants me to pray for the safety of other riders even more.
    God bless you. Flip

I worked fairly close with Rick. He was an absolutely wonderful person. When my only sibling and brother passed away while driving my car last year, he (along with others) pooled together donations for me to help with getting another vehicle. That gesture made his kindness and compassion shine through. It meant a lot to me and I will never forget that. I understand what you’re going through and I prayed to my brother to meet him in Heaven. I know they will swap many stories to pass the time, til we can see them again.

Although we have only known Ricky and his family for a few years, we have come to love and appreciate their sense of humor, their positive outlook on whatever life threw at them and their genuine sense of friendship. True to who they were, The Langhams were one of the first and most welcoming families to us when we were new to the area. Ricky and Vaneta have set an admirable example of what a family is about and Ricky will be remembered as a kind, lovable, funny, hardworking, honest man. Alecia, Phillip, Coby and Caitlyn could not have had a better role model.

My sympathy to all Rick’s family and friends. Those who miss Rick have plenty of company.
He was a good guy who would always be ready to help you any way he could, and was always a good sport with all the pranksters he worked with, who learned very quickly to be very careful not to spook him when he carried around this rather formidable looking coffee cup, especially if it contained hot coffee. More than one got the worse end of the deal when he got a nice hot coffee shower from Rick. The cars and bikes Rick sometimes drove in were a treat to look at and talk about.
One thing that helped me through the deaths in my own family was taking care of my remaining family members. Stick together and look out for one another, because I feel nothing would help him more than knowing his loved ones were being looked after. Rick’s and your friends and co workers are here if you need us.
