I worked with Doug when he was Chief at Alma P.D. when I was a Trooper. Always had great respect for him as a friend and a professional law enforcement officer. He will be truly missed by me and all of the police officers in Crawford County. R.I.P.

    Gayle, Hope and Parker,
I am so sorry to hear about Doug. I was thinking last night about whether it was seeing you all at a restaurant or at a family gathering, Doug would always greet me with a big smile and take time to stop and talk. He will be greatly missed by so many.

Doug was a great friend and my mentor. Doug took a chance on me, hiring me as young police officer thirty-three years ago. Doug was a professional police officer, who as Chief of the Alma Police Department, molded the department into the professional and well respected agency that it remains as today. I always enjoyed talking to Doug and you could see that the wheels were contantly turning in the back of his head on how to make things better.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Parker is a very fortunate young man to have had his guidance all these years! Parker will continue to make him proud on the baseball field and in life – now he has an even better seat to watch him play!!

To Gayle, Hope, Parker, Kelly and Family:
Kaylan and I are sad to hear about the passing of Doug P.
And for Parker….your Grandpa was your biggest fan… I never heard a story about your baseball career that didn’t include your Grandpa, and how he was a constant presence on and off the field…..I know his physical presence will be sorely missed by you and your family…Always remember…ROOTS AND WINGS….you come from a long line of amazing men…and women in your life…Shine on…he’s watching…and I’m quite sure…the joy you brought to his life won’t ever leave him….he can’t help it if he never stops smiling…Its a Grandparent thing… Love and Hugs all around…Auntie Kari and yur Cuz Kaylan M. My wife Lisa, my son Daniel and I offer our thoughts and prayers to the family for their loss. My son played baseball with Parker when they were younger, and I remember sitting in the stands with Doug and sharing comments with each other about the kids, the umps and coaches. A man with a dry wit and sly humor, he was a lot of fun to talk to. He will be missed.

I wish I could have been there to give my respects in person. It has been such a pleasure to get to take care of Mr Parker and to get to know your family and how much you all meant to him. He was a very warm and caring man and I see that in his daughter and grandson as well. Plus I have been able to see why he married such a wonderful woman. I wish he could have gone home to enjoy his family and familiar surroundings but please know that he, as well as your family, have touched the hearts of many. God bless you and your family and I pray you have the strength to go on.

We are very sad today to hear our good Winter Texan friend Doug who passed away Sept 11. We formed a special friendship with Doug and Gail over the past years wintering in Texas. Doug and I shared the same comittment and love for our families and I think that is why we got along so well. Nothing meant more to Doug than his family. He was such a nice man and he will truely be missed. Our thought and prayers go to Gail, Hope and Parker in this sad time. We will keep Doug in our hearts.
