Billy Charles Smith, December 9, 1942 ~ February 27, 2013

Billy Charles Smith, 70 of Fayetteville passed away on February 27, 2013at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born December 9, 1942 in the Whitehouse Community to Audie and Clarsey Richardson Smith.  He served our country in the U.S Army for four years, spending two years in Alaska. Upon returning, he began his career as a Veterinarian Assistant. He loved his job and continued this profession until retiring at age 64. There was no greater love than his family. He loved family vacations and traveling. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Smitty Smith and brother in law, Don Kilpatrick. Survivors include his wife, of 45 years, Janet Smith of the home; son, Russell Smith and wife Meg of Elkins; daughter, Becky Litwin and husband Rick of Buffalo, New York; cherished grandchildren, Baylie Smith of Elkins and Ryan Litwin of Buffalo, New York; sister in laws, Joyce Starr of Springdale, Ruth Kilpatrick of Fayetteville and Francia Smith of Elkins; lifetime friends, Carl and Ola Mae Richardson of the Whitehouse Community and Several nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Beards Funeral Chapel 10:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2013 with Rev. Ray Shackelford officiating. Private burial will be at Whitehouse Cemetery at a later date. Cremation arrangements will be under the direction of Beard’s Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.

    Billy was a beloved friend & part of the Northwest Equine Services family for many years. His passing is a huge loss to us all. He will be dearly missed! He was one of the kindest people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Our thoughts & prayers go out to Janet & the rest of the family.

    Grew up working with Billy Smith, he made going to work a pleasure, learned alot over the years, he will be missed. Prayers to Janet, Russell, Meg and the Smith Family.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Billy was a wonderful guy and I really enjoyed the years I got to work with him before he retired. He will be greatly missed. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. Cindy Pilcher

    Like many others we met Billy at the vets but over the years got to know him. Tried to keep track of him once he retired but sure missed seein him around. He will sure be missed and his wry lil smile especially. Prayers for u all

    Mr. Bill, you will be greatly missed. How many years has it been,close to 30yrs? you were always there to give me a shoulder to lean on. You took me under your wing and helped me become a better person. My heart is broken but I know that heaven got an awesome angel this week. You , Janet and family will always be in my heart.

    Billy was such a devoted vet tech and always there to help. I have many fond memories of him working with Dr. Hamm many years ago. He always laughed when I arrived with my horses in shorts and boots. RIP Billy. My prayers go out to his family.

    We will miss Uncle Billy so much, he has been such a happy part of my life for as long as I can remember. He made me feels special, even as a child, and I will love him always. Praying for peace for all of you to deal with the loss, remember all of my family are here for you and am so glad to have you as family. Love to all.

    So sorry to hear about the death of your husband although I did not know him he must have been a wonderful man because he had a wonderful wife. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Janet and Family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We loved and respected Billy not only for his ability to help take care of your horses but he was such a good hearted person and always had a smile for everyone and he will be missed by everyone that knows him.
