You have always been a man I have looked to as a mentor, an example as to how a man of God should live. Thank you brother for living your life for Christ and pointing us to the cross. What a blessing you and Pat have been.

I am so sorry I can’t be there for you at this time. Please forgive me.

I love you all very much
May God richly bless you and keep you.
Your brother in Christ our Lord

I have known Waunell for about 16 years. She was such a sweet, special friend to me. We worked together at Tyson and she always found me to show me what great math thinking her kids were doing. I will miss talking to her on the phone and swapping stories about our “kids” and her beautiful smile. Praying for her family and her friends,

I just want to tell the family that it saddened me this morning to read of Waunell passing. It has been years since we have talked. I knew her from Jr. High and High School. Waunell ALWAYS had a smile on her face and brightened the room with it. I also remember her singing. I was happy to read that she did so well (not surprising) and I know there were many classrooms that benefited from her teaching and kind disposition. Her legacy will certainly remain with all those children she taught. It will live on with me –remembering what a smile can mean to someone else.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Ms. Owen’s passing. My 9 year old daughter, Alyssa had her as a kindergarten teacher for 2 years in a row and loved her very much. She attends Tyson Elementary and is in the 3rd grade now. She would go by Ms. Owen’s classroom often just to say hello and get a hug. As my daughter wrote in a card about Ms. Owen “The sun will never be as bright without you.” You will forever be in our hearts.

I am sending my condolences to the Owens family. I worked with Waunell at John Tyson Elementary. She was the most beautiful person inside and out that I have ever known. She would come into to the Library just to stop by and say hello. I will miss seeing her smiles and her beautiful face. I will miss her dearly. Love you Waunell.

Waunell has been such a great friend to me for 25 years. I am going to miss her terribly. I will always remember her sweet, smiling face. She was always helpful to others. She brought so much joy into my life and my family’s life over the years. My boys will always remember her as “Waunella Quintella”. That was our special name for Waunell that always made her laugh and smile. Waunell was a wonderful teacher and I know how many hearts she has touched. I pray for you all during this difficult time. And Waunell, I will always miss you. Love you!

    Lee and Pat,
You were my second family growing up. I was at your house when Elvis died and remember Pat crying. I remember Pat looking out the window at the side of the house as Waunell and I tried dog food and she just smiled at us. We laughed at that so much. I remember the class project we had to complete by reading a book and creating an art project. I read a story about a horse and made a shoebox with trees and a plastic horse. Waunell read “The Wizard of Oz” and came to school with each of the characters handmade down to the last detail. She was so artistic and talented. I talked to her this summer and she was so positive. It was so good to walk down memory lane with her and remember the fun, crazy times. I am so sorry. She will be missed greatly and remembered fondly. I loved her so much.

I was so saddened to hear the news of Waunell’s passing, so hard to believe. I have so many good memories of our years at Colony South Missionary Baptist Church. I always enjoyed going home with you on Sundays and hanging out. You are such a wonderful family. What a blessing it was when I moved Mom & Dad up here in 2007 and found out that Jauwana lived next door! What a small world. May God comfort you during your time of need. You are in my thoughts and prayers. All my love, Tonya
