James William Newport, September 26, 1926~March 20, 2015

Newport for WebsiteJames William Newport, 88, of Fayetteville died Friday, March 20, 2015 in Springdale.  He was born September 26, 1926 in Wheeler, AR. to Harvey and Eula Porter Newport.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He retired from the Social Security Administration; served in WW II and Korea and was a member of both the Army and National Guard; and was a member of Wiggins Memorial United Methodist Church for forty-three years.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Mary Lou Easterling Newport of the home; children, Melissa Newport of Fayetteville; and Bill Newport of Conway; two grandchildren, Jay and Emily Newport; a brother, Max Newport; two sisters, Berneice Hebert; and Lou Thompson and husband, Charles.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Mt. Comfort Cemetery with Letitia Durham officiating under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M on Monday, March 23, 2015 at  Beard’s Chapel.

    I was in the army national guard 936th FA with James back in the fifties. We went to Korea. I have great memories of James.
