Jack Gentry Harris, April 24, 1939~June 15, 2015

Harris for PaperJack Gentry Harris of Fayetteville, AR., formerly of Berryville, AR. passed away on June 15, 2015 at the age of 76.  He was the loving son of Lewis and Edna Gentry Harris.  He is survived  by his wife of fifty-five years, Kay Harris; son, Mark Harris and wife, Donna. Jack served in the National Guard and US Army for thirty-two years and retired with a rank of Master Sergeant after the Iraq Gulf War.  He gave freely of his time and energies to help others via the Wounded Warrior Project, Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-eight years (Captain & Vice-Chief), American Legion, Jaycees, Master Mason at the Ashley Lodge #66 and was a Deacon at the First Christian Church.  His hobbies were travel, automobiles and airplanes.  Jack never met a stranger and with his many experiences, he was always ready with a humorous story.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to further Parkinson’s research or Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, AR. Cremation arrangements by Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

    Sorry for your lose. Jack always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He will be missed greatly. I can’t attend his memorial service because I just got out of the hospital myself. Again he will be missed.

    I am sad to learn of Jack’s passing. I have many fond and happy memories of Jack through the years that we worked at OMS 1. May God comfort your family untill we join Jack in that eternal home.
    I’m proud to have claimed Jack as my friend.

    Ray and I are so very sorry for the loss of our brother-in-law Jack. He was a wonderful, funny and outgoing person and was loved by everyone he met. He never met a stranger!     Bill was sorry to hear of Jack’s passing also having been in the guards together. Seems more and more of our friends and acquaintances are leaving us. God bless you. Bill & Marcia Lovett
