Carlos L. Garriott, November 1, 1931~August 6, 2015

Garriott, CarlosCarlos L. Garriott, passed away August 6, 2015 at Brighton Ridge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Carlos was born in Fayetteville on November 1, 1931 to Luther Garriott and Jeanette Dodd Durning.  He married Juana Florence Jordan on September 3, 1954 and they were married for 58 years.  He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, June Lankford.

He is survived by his children, Larry Garriott and Rocky Garriott of Fayetteville; one daughter, Carma McAleer and her husband, Michael of Eureka Springs; his 6 grandchildren, Jason and James Garriott, Matthew and Katie Garriott and Anna and Cora Lewis; and his sister, Linda Garriott Phillips of Springdale; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Carlos worked at the University of Arkansas physical plant for 49 years as a painter and the paint shop foreman. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He also loved his farm and gardening, raising cattle and cutting his hay. He could fix anything and also liked anything to do with cars from rebuilding motors to the final paint job.

Carlos’ life would not have been complete without his friends, and spent many hours with them just hanging out in his shop. He was a very kind generous and loving man.

There will be a visitation for family and friends at Beard’s Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 5-7 P.M.  Graveside services will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Round Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NWA Circle of Life Hospice in Carlos’ name.

So sorry for the loss of Uncle Carlos. Many good memories of him. One that he always liked it when he got the chance to see my grandchildren. He loved kids. He was always bringing snickers candy bars to Grandma Annie and was always good to my mom. He told a wild story about talking Crows that were as big as adult people. It still scares me to this day. He was a soul mate to Aunt Florence and did the best he could for her until the end. I know he is going to be missed by many that were his friends.

So sorry for your loss. It was nice to meet him when he was able to go to the lake. Of course BB knew him from Fayetteville, back in the day. He lived a good long life and now reunited with his wife and other family members. The circle of life. Peace.

Larry, Rocky and Cama, just remembering your names
Brings back so man good memories. I loved being
Part of the Baldwin gang even though I didn’t
Live there. Dad thought so much of your dad. He
Would always say, “I just call Carlos and he can
Fix it”. Love to you all.
