Larry Eugene Oliphant, February 2, 1944~April 2, 2016

Scan larry copyLarry Eugene Oliphant, age 72, of Rockaway Beach, MO. passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016.

He was born February 2, 1944 in Fayetteville, AR., to Garland and Julia Oliphant.  He graduated from Fayetteville High School and Central Baptist Bible College in Conway, AR.

He was an active member of the Elks Lodge since 1978.  He served in many positions including Exalted Ruler of the Lake Taneycomo Elks Lodge #2597. He was currently Leading Knight and Past Exalted Ruler.  Larry was also a member of the AMVETS Post 78.

Survivors include his longtime special friend, Sandy Stoddard of Rockaway Beach, MO.; two daughters, Kristen Oliphant Pickett of Portland, OR. and Audra Oliphant of Little Rock, AR., two sisters, Brenda Oliphant of Philadelphia, PA. and Kim Ferguson of Farmington, AR.; son-in-law, Mark Pickett; grandson, Ira James Pickett of Portland, OR.; and a host of friends and relatives.

Visitation will be at Beard’s Chapel in Fayetteville from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, April 7, 2016.  Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. in the Round Mountain Cemetery on Friday, April 8, 2016.

    Larry was one of the kindest people I have ever known. He was witty and fun to be around. A great friend to all. I will miss him.

    Audra, Christy & I are so very sorry to hear the tragic news of the loss of your father. While We had never met your father, thru discussions with you, we know your father is loved by so very many, and will be sorely missed by all whose lives were blessed to have known him.

    May God, comfort your family as you grieve the loss of your beloved father. May His immense power, love and goodness strengthen your belief, that your father has entered into God’s Heavenly Presence. Amen!

    Larry will be missed by ever one who new him.He has always been my best friend and always will remain that. Audra and Christy could have searched the world over and not have found a better dad
