I went to school and graduated with Mel in 1967. I didn’t know him real well but we spoke and he seemed like a very nice person. I was surprised to hear of his passing. I know he was back in Newton this summer and met up with old classmates. My best to the family and sorry for your loss.

I am deeply saddened by Mel’s passing. Even though we haven’t spoke in years I’ll miss him. My sincerest condolences go to Jacob, Erin and the rest of Mel’s family. He was a mentor, friend, business partner and a an all around “GREAT GUY”. I am out of the country traveling on business and won’t be able to pay my respect in person. RIP brother and hope you see our gal, “HOPE I AM THE ONE” up there.

I knew Mel way back in the Tim’s Pizza days, he was a good man then.
I knew Mel when he raced Sgt. Newman (a horse I raised) he was a good man then.
My point is Mel was a Good Man early, middle and late in his life.
My deepest condolences and best wishes for his children, and grandchildren to become as good a human being as Mel.
Thanks for being in my life, Mel.

Learning of Mel’s death this morning has brought a flood of memories. I first met Mel when he hired me to waitress at The Ark when it first opened in Fayetteville. As Mel moved forward I followed as did Robin and several others…Pizza Hut….Tim’s. He was our boss but also friend. When I went back to nursing school, he was there cheering me on. And when David and I married he and Robin were our witnesses on our marriage license. 39 years have passed since then but the wonderful memories have never gone. He was taken too soon. He was a wonderful, good man and will be missed by many. Rest in peace my friend, you will never be forgotten. There is sadness in my heart. <3
