1928 to Garland and Zealia Burke Pearce in Magnolia, AR.

She was the matriarch of the family and our hearts will ache without her sense of
humor, wisdom and stubborn nature. She was Mom, Grandma, Gomer, Gram, Mimi, and
Mam to all her family. She was a devout Christian, and enjoyed reading the bible and
spending time with her daughter Frances in fellowship at their church, Westside Freewill
Baptist.  She also enjoyed fishing & the outdoors, cooking, crossword puzzles and
spending time with her family anytime she could. She was loving and giving and always
enjoyed maintaining an open home for anyone that needed a meal or a hug.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Shipley who died 3
years and 17 days prior to her. She had missed him dearly, and we know that he was
waiting with open arms and a big kiss for her at the gates of heaven. She was also
preceded in death by her parents, sister, Annie Laurie Lumpkins, two brothers, Richard
& Levi Pearce. There were also many dear life long friends that were in attendance of
her welcoming party in heaven.
Betty Jean was devoted, strong willed and independent woman that loved her
children fiercely, and worked very hard to provide for them her entire life. She began
her career in the nursing field working for various Dr.’s in Illinois and Arkansas. She
also worked as an EMT/Paramedic in Gravette, AR. During the times that she did not
work, was spent raising her children, or spending uncountable hours with her
grandchildren.
